VCE Art Creative Practice

In my first year of teaching, I took on units 1 and 2 Visual Art. I had the joy of taking these students through their fist year of VCE, and seeing them graduate when the study design changed to Art Creative Practice in 2023. The majority of my resources are curated for units 3 and 4 ACP. It is such a joy to have deeper conversations with students about the intersection of life and art at this year level, to really challenge and encourage their views, and their creativity in their final years of school. A number of these resources have been sold on various teaching-resource websites.

Revision for Unit 4 SAC, and/or final ACP exam.

An overview of Unit 1 ACP, and introductiory task to the first outcome (written artist report).

A selection of slides from Unit 1, focusing on sculpture as one of the three artforms for this outcome.

An introduction to students' first assessment for unit 3. This first outcome has 4 of the 10 criteria students are assessed on for units 3 and 4. This resource breaks these tasks down into exactly what the students need to evidence in order to pass, through to what they can do, to excel.

This resource is used alongside lessons on search functions and research tools online, to assist students in choosing artists for their practice, rather than gathering inspiration of pinterest or tiktok!

Breaking down the 'exploration and experimentation' stages of the creative practice cycle.

An Overview of Unit 4 ACP

Much of unit 3 is student let, and with the requirement to assess students' use of the creative practice cycle,  these activities provide different suggestions of where and how to start making and responding to artorks, without compromising the students' decisions of how to engage with the creative practice cycle.

Visual suggestions of starting points for the 'research' component of the creative practice cycle.

Students reflect on their own work to date, present to peers and reflect on the feedback received from their peers.

A short guide and reminder of different ways to structure students' folio annotations.
